Backed by a Big Lottery Fund (BLF) grant, we're delivering adult weight management services as part of the ‘Healthy Powerful Communities’ project in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, East Ayrshire, and Tayside.
Our programmes last from eight to ten weeks and are held at a number of accessible locations throughout the community. They're free to attend, and families can either self-refer or be referred by a health professional.
Mums with a child under two whose Body Mass Index (BMI) is 25 or above can attend New Mum, New You. Learn about weight management and healthy eating, as well as picking up tips for weaning and preparing easy, healthy weaning foods and family meals. It's a fresh start for you and a great start for your baby.
Mind, Exercise, Nutrition...Do it! (MEND) is a programme of games, activities, discussion and workshops for children, young people and their families, designed to prevent and treat child obesity. We're running the following courses in Scotland:
- MEND 2-4
- MEND 5-7
- MEND 7-13
- MEND Teens
MEND 2-4 is open to all children aged from two to four and their families, while the programmes for older children and teenagers are designed for young people who are above a healthy weight to attend with their families.
