Celebrating success with Team Bromley
On Monday 9th October, Mytime Active welcomed Team Bromley members and managers at The Pavilion Leisure Centre to celebrate retaining the London Youth Games Jubilee Trophy.
World Championship 2017 silver medallist Perri Shakes-Drayton joined Team Bromley to celebrate their achievements on what was a prestigious night.
This is the second year in a row that Team Bromley has won the London Youth games, showcasing the talent and efforts of team managers and participants in the Borough of Bromley.
We were joined by the Mayor of Bromley and CEO of Bromley Council Doug Patterson. Doug said:
“This is a really good achievement for the Borough of Team Bromley, it shows what an active borough we have. Every participant has contributed to this win & should be extremely proud.”
Volunteer coach Jay Galley, who won 3 events and has been dedicated to Bromley for over 10 years, said:
“This was a great night and it showed just how much team managers and participants contributed. To see people grow is a major drive for me as a coach.”
Perri Shakes-Drayton inspired the future stars while promoting the values of dedication and commitment, especially through overcoming injury. She exclaimed:
“It is really great to offer a competition like this, representing your Borough, your county or your country brings a feeling like no other.”
Perri was also joined by two future stars, sprinters Shannon and Cheriece Hytlon. Shannon made an appearance in this years 2017 World Championships in London and both are previous London Youth Games participants and were able to draw on their experiences to inspire our young people.
