Dementia awareness at Cobtree Manor Park

Cobtree Manor Park Golf Course, near Maidstone in Kent, is building a reputation as a dementia friendly venue.

General manager Eleanor Walton is a Dementia Friends Champion who has trained more than 100 staff as Dementia Friends, both at Cobtree and in the wider Mytime Active family.

Cobtree Manor Park has been shortlisted in the Dementia Friendly Organisation/Company Award category of the Dementia Friendly Kent Awards 2017.

Several of the club's members have been diagnosed with dementia or support a friend or family member who has, so Eleanor feels it is important to raise awareness.

On 24th September 2017, the course held a  FootGolf afternoon to raise awareness of the issues surrounding dementia and vulnerable adults. Visitors were given the chance to walk in the open air and challenge their skills with this fun sport, followed by a buffet.
