Playday is the national day for play, celebrated each year across the UK on the first Wednesday in August.
What’s Playday?
Playday is the national day for play, traditionally held on the first Wednesday in August.
It is the biggest play sector event in the UK, and possibly Europe! As well as a celebration of children’s right to play, Playday is a campaign that highlights the importance of play in children’s lives. Playday is coordinated by Play England, in partnership with Play Wales, Play Scotland and PlayBoard Northern Ireland.

Gym challenges
- Junior gym challenge, how many step ups can you do in 30 seconds.
- Prizes for who can row the greatest distance in 60 seconds
Free Born to Move:
- 2:15 pm - 4 – 7 years old
- 3:15 pm 8 – 15 years old
Free ice lolly with every soft play session on the day!
Walnuts leisure centre
- FREE Junior circuits class for ages 11 – 16yrs from 10:30am – 10:55am.
- FREE OObleck & Playdough Messy Play Session* Ages 1-11yrs from 10:30am – 11:30am (*Parental supervision required, FREE upon Soft Play entry ticket purchase)
The Pavilion
- Junior circuits class 3-3.30pm.
- Junior gym challenge, how many step ups can you do in 30 seconds???!!!
- Prizes for best bowling scores.
- Face painting between 10.45am-12.45pm & 2.15-4.15pm
- Disco Soft play fun SPECIAL SESSION
- Free lolly with every soft play session
