Primetime Buddy commended in London Sport Awards

At Mytime Active, we place real value on the fantastic work done by our volunteers and the positive impact they have on our local communities.

So we’re delighted that our Primetime Buddy Jeff King was one of three highly commended individuals in the Volunteer of the Year category at the 2016 London Sport Awards.

With a mission to make London the most physically active sporting city in the world, the Awards highlight the outstanding diversity of sport in our local communities – and attract hundreds of nominations from across the capital. Jeff was nominated for his work alongside patients on Mytime Active’s HeartSmart exercise referral sessions.

Retired PE teacher Jeff has experienced a heart attack himself – and is a genuine champion for older people, inspiring them to move on from Heart Smart into independent exercising. One of the many people Jeff has worked with said,

“I can walk faster, am more alert and feel better in myself. My cardiologist was truly amazed when I did the cycling test at King’s Hospital. My fitness had increased from 40% to 70%. She kept saying she couldn’t believe it.”

Primetime is Mytime Active’s programme of classes and events designed for the over 50s. They’re great for improving fitness – and meeting people locally. Buddies like Jeff ensure that our members have an enjoyable visit and feel informed and inspired.
