Young runners donate to The Maypole Project

As part of our commitment to local communities, Mytime Active helps to organise trials for Bromley teams in the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon.

The Mini Marathon is open to young people aged between 11 and 17 from all 33 London Boroughs, and follows the last three miles of the London Marathon route, finishing at The Mall. It’s a once in a lifetime experience that boosts confidence and encourages participation in sports.

In addition to running the Mini Marathon, our 2019 athletes chose to raise sponsorship money so they could help other young people in their community. Thanks to their efforts, they were able to donate £1,383 to The Maypole Project

The Maypole Project is a small, local charity providing individually tailored activities, events and therapy to children and young people who have complex medical needs, SEN and disabilities, as well as offering support to their families.

Mytime Active Trustee Christine Warford and Regional Manager Matt Eady joined members of the Bromley Mini Marathon team and their manager, Jay Galley, to hand over the cheque.

Amy Kellaway, fundraising manager for The Maypole Project, said:

“Thank you so much for all the runners who have raised such a fantastic amount for The Maypole Project.  As a small charity this money really makes a huge difference to us. It costs £750 to support a family for a year so this money will go on to support two families for the whole year!”

We’re so proud of the young people we support for their achievements in the Mini Marathon, and for their generous fundraising.
